Introduced in January 2010, the (stylish) Yepp Mini is a front mounted seat with good comfort, safety and security features.

YEPP MINI.
Introduced in January 2010, the (stylish) Yepp Mini is a front mounted seat with good comfort, safety and security features.
The fabric of the seat is a warm, pliable, rubber-like material called EVA, which is attached to a tubular steel frame running inside the edge of the seat. The EVA material does not absorb water or heat and is easy to clean. The shoulder pads are made of a softer grade of EVA. A mini handlebar loop gives the child something to hold on to. The foot rests can be adjusted in height without tools.
The seat is fairly open at the sides and uses a 5 point harness to keep the child in place. The left and right loops of the harness latch independently: there is no need to hold the two halves together whilst inserting them into the boss. The harness latch is child proof and the loops do not lift over the child's head. The seat is TNO approved and meets European standard EN 14344.
The seat has an integral anti-theft lock and comes with two keys.
The Yepp Mini is suitable for children from 9 months of age (and able to sit up by themselves) to 15 kg weight (about 3 years old). It can only be attached to steel handlebar stems between 20 and 28mm in diameter, with 39mm of exposed stem. The seat sits behind the handlebars. The more upright your bike's riding position the better, as the seat is in front of the rider.

Please check your bicycle's handlebar stem before ordering. It needs to be made of steel
and be between 20 and 28mm in diameter (see instructions), with 39mm of exposed stem (you may have to raise the handlebars, but not past the inscribed limit mark).

Yepp Mini Ahead Adaptor. This bracket is for use with threadless Ahead stems. Fitting involves removing and refitting the stem extension. Please click on the photos to the left to see the instructions. Note: The £10 'swap brackets' option means the packaging of the Yepp Mini will be distrubed (the seats are very neatly packaged).
The steel plate that goes over the steerer (steering column) about an eighth on an inch thick (3mm), so there are no instructions to remove spacers when fitting the bracket.
The Sleep Rolls slot on to the Mini Handlebar and provides a soft support for resting. They are made from the same material as the seat, EVA, and are hollow.
Two of the designs are decorated with soft toy characters: MIFFY(the rabbit) and YEPP (fried egg face).
The soft toys have been tested to EN-71-3 and are attached by Velcro.
The BASIC design is without a soft toy.
This item ships by First Class post, or goes in the box with a seat.
The Yepp Windscreen fits on the Yepp Mini stem adaptor, which comes with the seat. It clicks in to place and can be removed
by holding down a button on the front of the stem adaptor and lifting the windscreen mounting arm. The mounting arm folds flat for storage.

YEPP MAXI.
The Yepp Maxi is a rear mounted seat made with same materials and construction techique as the Yepp Mini.
It was introduced in the summer of 2009, and won the Dutch 'Fiets Innovatie Award' for that year.
The fabric of the seat is a warm, pliable, rubber-like material called EVA, which is attached to a tubular steel frame running inside the edge of the seat. The EVA material does not absorb water or heat and is easy to clean. The shoulder pads are made of a softer grade of EVA. The foot rests can be adjusted in height without tools.
The seat is fairly open at the sides and uses a 5 point harness to keep the child in place. The left and right loops of the harness latch independently: there is no need to hold the two halves together whilst inserting them into the boss. The harness latch is child proof for younger children and the loops do not lift over the child's head. The shoulder straps have two height levels. The seat is TNO approved and meets European standard EN 14344.
The seat has three rear reflectors and an integral anti-theft lock and comes with two keys.
The Yepp Maxi is suitable for children from 9 months of age (and able to sit up by themselves) to 22 kg weight (about 6 years old). It is supplied with a mounting bracket that fits bicycle frame size 20 inches (51cm) and above. The part the bracket clamps on to (the seat post tube) can be 28 to 45mm in diameter. The seat sits above any rear lugguage rack.
The Yepp Maxi is available in BLACK, BLUE, LIME, ORANGE and SILVER with a post mounting bracket and the same colours for the rack mounted version (Easyfit kit included) (UK stock for despatch within one working day).

One YEPP MAXI POST BRACKET comes as standard with the Yepp Maxi. A second bracket can be bought to allows the seat to be used with a second bike. It fits bicycle
frame size 20 inches (51cm) and above. The part the bracket clamps on to (the seat post tube) can be 28 to 45mm in diameter.
The bracket comes with 4 short bolts for tube diameters up to 35mm, and longer bolts for tube diameters 36 to 45mm. Instructions are
as shown for the Yepp Maxi.

Note: as at August 2012 Halfords UK are selling this bracket for £20 - collect in person from selected stores. You can check stock at Halfords.co.uk, but it's probably also worth phoning the store to check before making a trip.
The Easyfit bracket bolts on to the bike's existing carrier. The rectanular window in the centre is the "Easyfit window", for Yepp Maxi and Yepp Junior seats.
The thinner bar at the front (right side of the photo) is for the front claws of the GMG 911 and now discontinued T30 child seats.
We include this bracket with our carrier mounted Yepp Maxi seats.
Yepp Maxi EF Bracket Instructions (1MB, in English).
The Easyfit Carrier XL. Extra Large or Extra Long, it makes provision for panniers to be fitted behind the child seat.
It has the same Easyfit window and front bar as the standard brakcet, weighs 690g more (2.3 kg), and is 7 inches longer (175mm).
The distance from the rearmost support to the centre of the pannier mount (cantilever distance) is 6 inches (140mm).
The two long bars that carry the weight of the panniers are half inch (12.5mm) diameter steel tube.

Carrying heavy objects using this carrier at the same time as carry a child in the seat is not a good idea, as the bike will (probably) be too back heavy, with not enough weight on the front wheel (needs to be 25% of total weight). Please consider front mounted panniers for heavy objects in this case.
Yepp Panniers. The obvious selling point is they match the seats. The double pannier has a maximum capacity of 35 liters and is labelled as 33x32x19 cm, which is
the 'expanded' size, when zips that run around the sides and bottom of each pannier are undone. With the zips closed, each pannier measures 32x30x14 cm, and can comfortably hold 8 x 1 liter juice cartons.
They are sturdy, weighing 2.4 kg.
GMG R911 Classic Junior / GMG 911.
Well I'll start with a translation of the text on the label: "
This product is specifically and only suitable for the transport of persons older than 6 years or heavier than 22 kg. Always check that your carrier is suitable for the carriage of passengers and weight in accordance with ISO11243.
Benefits:
1. Fast and safe installation on carrier with a width of 13 to 17 cm.

Warning and advice:
Ensure proper dress guard and use the SMART Foot Guard [£14] to prevent entrapment of feet between the spokes
Fasten the belt when the seat is unoccupied
Do not use this seat for small children
Children under 22 kg must be transported in a suitable seat
Always fasten the locking strip (probably, text is 'monteer altijd de slotstrip zonder onder de bagagedager')
Set footrests at the correct height and check the positions
Regularly check the security of the seat
If the 911 does not match your carrier or your carrier isn't sturdy enough, you can use Eurofix 667 or Easyfit brackets."
I'd add to that the child needs to have a good sense of balance, as the seat does not have sides. The 'lap strap' seems more of a chest strap, which i think is better. The three photos are clickable. The foot rests and arms fold up for storage, as shown in the first picture. The seat is fitted by removing the silver coloured locking bar, hooking the front loops under the front most carrier cross member, opening the two spring loaded bars, lowering the seat, and releasing the bars to camp the seat to the carrier, slotting the locking bar in (under the carrier), tightening its nut, and optionally securing the seat against theft by putting a 20mm padlock (supplied) through a hole in the locking bar. An Easyfit bracket is not needed for this seat, but can be used to achive the 13 to 17 cm width. The seat weighs 2.5 kg, and is made of steel, apart from the footrests which are plastic and the cushions which are PVC or similar over foam.,
I've seen this seat rated to carry 35kg, but the label does not give an upper weight limit. I've tried to source a 35kg carrier to sell with this seat from the dutch carrier manufacturer Steco. Here is their reply: "We have different rear carriers tested (NEN14872) 25 kg and 35 kg containing a 'yepp kader', so the childseat can be mounted directly onto the carrier; no additional adapter needed. These carriers are all custom made. At the moment we don't have a standard solution for you. If you are interested we can develop and produce your own carrier suitable for childseats." I'll consider that after I've sold 75 units of this or the Yepp Junior.
I've had one propective customer find 35kg carrier at www.evanscycles.com (August 2012), but I'd recommend using the Eurofix "strengthener" with whichever carrier you choose, to be more sure it won't break.
